Let's create a blog post from scratch in StartRight Pro. This article will go over some of the extra features we've included in StartRight Pro.
First log into WordPress and go to Posts > Add New - and add some text to get started.
1. Add a Read More
This is important to do so that the entire post is not displayed on the blog archive screen. After the first paragraph, click the
'Insert Read More' icon. This first paragraph will be displayed on the archive or blog landing screen.
2. Add a Drop Cap for the first Character
This isn't necessary but it looks nice. To add a drop cap for the first character in your blog post switch to the 'Text' tab - and add the following around the first letter. Change the P obviously to your first letter.
P
3. Add a Featured Image to the Post
This image appears on the Blog archive or landing page. It'll make your site look much more visually attractive if there's a great image on each post. If you're stuck for imagery we recommend the excellent free resource unsplash.com
The images we use are 760px x 380px - they shouldn't be too small.
4. Include a Tiled Mosaic Gallery
If you've followed our Jetpack installation guide you'll now have an option to include a tiled gallery within a blog post. If you haven't added Jetpack yet, follow that tutorial first and then come back.
First click the 'Add Media' button:
Now click the Create Gallery link on the left.
After choosing a couple of images you'll have the option to choose what kind of gallery to add. After adding Jetpack and installing the Tiled Mosaic module (this is not added by default - you need to got to Jetpack > Settings and explicitly install it) - you can choose this layout from the dropdown. Ensure the image size is also set to Large and the Link To is set to None.
5. Add a Blockquote
Switch to the 'Text' tab in the WordPress editor and paste in the following, changing the content to your own.

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship. — Benjamin Franklin
